Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 – Mid range tablet for daily use
$279.99 $124.95
Let me start this review by saying that Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is not an high end tablet in no means. It’s well made product with mid tier speed and performance at best, but what makes it a must have is it’s performance compared to it’s price.

The first thing you notice about Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is that it feels and looks a bit bulkier than the average tablet nowadays. Some might dislike it because of the sleek looks of iPad and other tablets, but personally, I don’t see this as a huge negative. The only thing that really grabs my eyes and feels kinda disappointing is that the chassis is made out of plastic. Chassis made out of metal costs more to make, but even then you kinda want that sturdy feeling of metal on your hands nowadays.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 comes in two colors, black and white.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 has a TFT LCD display with 1920×1200 resolution. This means that most shows and videos run a smooth Full HD picture and look great on the tablet. There is also almost no lag when switching between different views.
Samsung has added an 8 core processor ( 4×1.6 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.0GHz Cortex-A53) processor in the tablet. There was little to no input lag when switching between apps and when browsing the internet, though for gaming this might be a bit too little. The 2 GB of RAM also leaves something to hope for, but for a daily internet browsing and use the 2 GB of RAM is plenty enough.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 has a microSD slot and is sometimes bundled with a 32 GB card, but higher-capacity cards are available. Thanks to that you can easily upgrade to a bigger card if you like to carry a lot of music, videos or other media with you on your tablet.
The tablet comes equipped with a micro-USB v2.0 port which is located on the top edge of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1. You can easily attach different accessories including external keyboard or even full-size USB if you need to through this port.
For some peoples surprise the tablet actually has physical buttons which have been steadily been missing from the most modern tablets. The feel of the buttons on the side and the home button is good and the feedback is also good when you push them. This is also a good thing because this way the buttons won’t be taking valuable screen area and give you a much bigger screen to use.
The back camera comes in 8MP with a flash which is a rarely seen feature on tablets in this price range. The photo quality isn’t as good as on the high-end devices and even at best the quality of the photos is average. For video chat and sending quick photos of a project, or something else you’re doing its more than enough. On the front Samsung has decided to go with a 2MP camera which is not much to celebrate. We really feel like they could have put at least another 8 MP on the front as well.
Speaker quality is average, but it does allow you to watch TV shows or movies from 3 to 4 feet away even there is a moderate amount of background noise. We did enjoy watching some movies and series from Netflix / Amazon Prime, while on the train or a long car drive.
From the battery point of view Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is backing a 7300 mAh battery means you should get a good amount of viewing time with it. Samsung says it should allow you to play up to 13 hours of video or internet usage, but as always this depends a lot on your screen brightness. An average user should get around 8 to 10 hours of usage with moderate brightness settings.
