When first time opening the well packaged JBL E65BTNC you instantly see the headphones. With them, you got the standard orange JBL Mini USB cable with a fairly long audio cord if you wish to use the headphones wired or run out of battery.
JBL E65BTNC is following the very familiar JBL design. You got the power, voice up/down and select button between them on the right with the input for the 5.1 sound plug. On the left ear cup, you got the Mini USB to reload the battery of the wireless headphones.
Even though they might feel a bit flimsy on the start, the headphones are well design and for at least me the earcups managed to hide my ears completely. They fir your head nicely and increasing the size of the bad is easy and works really good. It’s not too sturdy or loose so you can easily make it fit your head.
JBL hasn’t gone all crazy with the colors. At the moment there is only three color option available for the JBL E65BTNC and those are black, blue and white. Some might see this as a bit of a downer, but personally, I see it as a good thing. They stuck to professional-looking colors and are keeping it simple.
The headphones are easy to set up. Just grab them from the package, put them on and power up. After that, you can quickly find them on your phone or PC with the name “JBL E65BTNC” and connect to them. Really simple and easy to set up.
The JBL E65BTNC promise around 15 hours of battery life with noise-canceling and Bluetooth on or 24h with just the Bluetooth on. In our test, we didn’t really see much difference in the promised battery life. We got around 12 hours of battery life with Bluetooth and noise-canceling on.
Some users have reported a bit of a “hiss” sound on the noise-canceling, but we didn’t notice this in our tests. Though we do need to warn you that noise-canceling and music as fun as they seem, you will get scared when you notice how easily people are able to sneak up on you. I personally got scared by my mate when writing this article and listening to music with noise canceling on.
Since these are a pair of headphones sound is one of the most important aspects of the product. So without further ado, here’s what we think about the sound.
The JBL E65BTNC has a good warm sound. Bass is a bit boosted, but that’s expected. The mid-high sounds are a bit sharper than expected, but nothing too annoying or out of the ordinary. Overall the sound quality seems to be above average for a pair of this price range noise-canceling headphones.
Connectivity is not the strong point of these headphones and that is a bit of a bummer. The Bluetooth max range is around 30 feet or 10 meters, and you quite quickly notice that any walls and doors can affect your connectivity. The best advice to fix this issue is to keep your device close by when listening to music to ensure the best connection between it and the JBL E65BTNC headphones.
