JBL has made some new anxiously waited for upgrades to their new Flip 4 Wireless Bluetooth speaker. The new IPX7 cover allows you to grab the speaker to a beach or a hike more safely. The biggest amazement has been the improved sound quality compared to the Flip3 while keeping the price point almost the same.

JBL Flip 4 comes in the regular cylinder form with the basses on both ends of the cylinder and the controls on the top. The plus, minus, and play buttons have moved a bit on the back side which is not that big of a deal. You still find the power and connect buttons on top of the speaker. You also have 5 led lights on top to show you how much battery life you have left.
You can acquire JBL Flip 4 in a variety of colors of course which is nice since it ensures that everyone can find a color that fits them.
In the packing, you get a bright orange USB cable, user manual and the warranty information. So no big surprises there.
Dimensions of the speaker are 3.6 x 3.6 x 8.5 inches and it weighs only 1.8 pounds.
As far as the colors go you can acquire the JBL Flip 4 in black, red, white, blue, gray and teal. There are some special colors or “limited edition” colors available meaning camo and triangle, but the only difference really is the coloring when compared to the other normal ones.
As always setting up a JBL Bluetooth speaker was easy as it gets. Turn on your Bluetooth, press the connectivity button on top of the speaker, check your phone and connect.
Now for the battery, we have to note that in our test JBL Flip 4 lasted around 3-4 hours with full volume, but you do get more out of it if you’re not rocking it at full volume 24/7. This means you can averagely get around +12 hours with a max volume of 40%. The battery is 3000mAh which is a lot less than on its competitor AOMAIS GO which had around 8800 mAh
Flip has an IPX7 protection meaning you can drown it in a meter or 3.3 feet for a maximum of 30 minutes. This is a really good feature considering personally at least, I like to take my devices with me and listen to music in almost everywhere. We can safely say you can take this to a beach or almost anywhere with you and you can be sure it can take the small spills and splashes of water safely.
Speakers on this devices are amazing. One thing you have to understand that this device is not a 300 dollar professional speaker so the value your getting for the price you’re paying is actually really good. There’s a very limited space for the speakers in this device which does show. Mostly you notice this in the highest and lowest tunes. Thankfully, in the end, it didn’t really bother us as much as we first thought it would. For a portable Bluetooth speaker the JBL Flip 4 does an amazing job and there is no doubt why this speaker is so popular.
The microphone is a bit of a letdown on this device because it seems that when they went for the IPX7 it also affected how the device picks up your voice.
JBL has made a new upgrade on their devices bringing a new feature called “Connect+”. Now some might have an older model like the JBL Flip 3 with the “Connect” -feature that lets you connect two of these Bluetooth speakers together, but the new “Connect+” allows you to connect up to 100 devices together.
There is only one problem with the new “Connect+” -feature. It doesn’t let you connect to the old devices with the “Connect” -feature, meaning you’re stuck using only one or forced to buy the newer model. JBL has commented on this and said they are planning on fixing this issue in the future, but only future will tell if the changes are actually made.
